7 Best Places to Watch the Sunset at Fort Myers Beach
**Always remember to leave no trace. It’s crucial to pack out what you pack in and leave no trash. Some of these spots have trash bins, so you can easily throw your trash away. If they don’t have trash bins, you can throw your trash away at a nearby gas station or convenience store.
The Pier
The Fort Myers Beach Pier is one of the most popular places to watch the sunset at Fort Myers Beach. The pier is on the beach right after you drive over the Matanzas Pass Bridge and has plenty of parking nearby. It has a boardwalk stretching into the ocean and a platform at the end where many people fish, photograph the sunset and enjoy the views. Because the pier is one of the most popular places to watch the sunset at Fort Myers Beach, it is busy. If you want to watch the sunset on the pier, I recommend arriving at least an hour before the sun sets to get a spot. You can also watch the sunset on the beach next to the pier. After the sun sets, you can stop by one of the many nearby restaurants to enjoy dinner or dessert!
Matanzas Pass Bridge
Matanzas Pass Bridge is one of my favorite places to watch the Fort Myers Beach sunset. There is a lane on one side of the bridge for pedestrians where you can watch the sunset from after you park your car in a parking lot near Fort Myers Beach. The top of the bridge has beautiful views overlooking Matanzas Harbor and Fort Myers Beach. Because this is a pedestrian walkway, you cannot set up chairs to watch the sunset, and you will have to make room for people walking by. Although not many people watch the sunset from Matanzas Pass Bridge, it will still be busy with passing people and cars. It’s not as quiet as other places to watch the sunset at Fort Myers Beach, but it’s still a beautiful spot!
Bowditch Point Park
Bowditch Point Park is on the northern tip of Fort Myers Beach and is one of the most beautiful spots to watch the sunset! The beautiful 17-acre nature preserve has access to the beach and hiking trails. You can enjoy a sunset walk through the preserve or watch the sunset from the beach. If you want to watch the sunset from Bowditch Point Park, I recommend arriving early since the parking lot is small. Also, this is a popular area for wedding ceremonies, but usually, you can find a beautiful spot away from the wedding. If you are looking for one of the best places to watch the sunset at Fort Myers Beach, Bowditch Point Park is the place!
7 miles of Fort Myers Beach
Fort Myers Beach has over 7 miles of beautiful beach, offering many places to watch the sunset! If you are looking for a more secluded area away from the pier, you can watch the sunset along the southern section of Fort Myers Beach, where many people don’t venture. There are plenty of areas to choose from to set up a chair or blanket and enjoy the beautiful sunset over the ocean.
Lovers Key State Park
Lovers Key State Park is a gem near Fort Myers Beach and offers beautiful areas to watch the sunset. The 712-acre park has short hiking trails leading to the beautiful 2-mile Lovers Key Beach. You will see many boats anchored near the beach to enjoy the sunset as well! Lovers Key is known as one of the most beautiful beaches in Florida, so it will quickly become one of your favorite spots. Because Lovers Key State Park is not near the downtown section of Fort Myers Beach, it will be quieter than other areas, which is perfect for watching the sunset!
San Carlos Bay and Bunche Beach Preserve
Although San Carlos Bay and Bunche Beach Preserve are not on Fort Myers Beach, it is only a short drive away and offers a beautiful spot to watch the sunset. The 719-acre beach and wetland area is the perfect place to relax for the day, swim, walk, and enjoy the sun setting over the ocean. This area is also a great place to see many species of birds! Although San Carlos Bay and Bunche Beach Preserve are not on Fort Myers Beach, it is still a popular area, so it is busy. I recommend arriving early before sunset to secure a spot and enjoy the beautiful area. If you are looking for one of the best places to watch the sunset at Fort Myers Beach, San Carlos Bay & Bunche Beach Preserve is the perfect place!
Sanibel Island & Captiva Island
Sanibel Island and Captiva Island are also a short drive from Fort Myers Beach and offer beautiful spots to watch the sunset. Although these are islands, they are accessible by car! Sanibel Island is 12 miles long, offering a lighthouse, wildlife refuge, and beaches. Captiva Island is 5 miles long and offers over 2.5 miles of beaches. Both areas have beautiful beaches, miles of bike paths, and many bird-watching opportunities, so you will not be disappointed with the things to do on the islands. If you are looking for one of the best places to watch the sunset at Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel Island and Captive Island are perfect places!
There is no shortage of beautiful areas to watch the sunset at Fort Myers Beach! Whether you want to swim, hike, or relax as the sun sets, Fort Myers Beach has many beautiful spots. This guide is a great place to find the best places to watch the sunset at Fort Myers Beach!
